Lawrence "Evan" Schubert was born on July 6, 1930 in Honolulu, Hawaii. One of 7 children of William Schubert and Mary (Juarez) Schubert, Evan grew up in on the island of Oahu and attended St. Louis Catholic High School. At the age of 18, he moved to the mainland U.S. where he attended college at San Jose State University, receiving his Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Finance. It was in Concord, California where he met Cynthia Kegresse. They were married on September 14, 1952 and raised 6 boys. They lived for 5 years in Salem, Oregon, and then moved back to California in 1969. Evan retired in 1992, and after Cynthia's passing he lived in San Luis Obispo for the last 10 years of his life. He died on December 3, 2009 from heart failure.

Evan loved music and played ukulele, guitar and piano. He loved to tell stories of his days growing up in Hawaii. We will miss you, Dad.
