WILLIAM BRYAN FOGLEMAN
Mr. William Bryan Fogleman, 89, the husband
of Mildred Styers Fogleman, passed
away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Fogleman was born Dec. 7, 1913, to
Martin Luther Fogleman and Flora Hall
Parker Fogleman in Gibsonville. The
family moved to Winston-Salem when Mr.
Fogleman was 12. He attended local
schools and graduated from R.J. Reynolds
High School in 1933. Mr. Fogleman attended
Draughn's Business College. He
served his country during World War II in
the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division,
where he served in North Africa, Sicily
and Italian campaigns. He was awarded the
Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. Mr.
Fogleman retired after 30 years with The
Bahnson Co. (now Luwa-Bahnson) in the
accounting department. He was a member
of Augsburg Lutheran Church where he
served as an usher for a number of years,
served on the church council, a number of
committees, as Sunday school superintendent,
and was a member of the George
Barkley Class.
Surviving are his loving wife of
591/2 years, Mildred; two daughters, Dr.
Jean Adair Leland and husband, Dr. Tom
Leland of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Susan
Vaden and husband, Norman Vaden, of
Winston-Salem; three grandchildren,
Johathan Leland, Karen Vaden and Brent
Vaden, along with a number of special
nieces and nephews.
A 2 p.m. funeral service was held
on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Augsburg
Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr.
Ronald Rinn, Pastor Shirley Harrison and
Pastor Edwin Troutman officiating. Burial
followed in Forsyth Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 7 to 9
p.m. that evening at Hayworth-Miller
Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to Augsburg
Lutheran Church, 845 W. Fifth St.,
Winston-Salem, NC 27101, Hospice &
Palliative Care Center, 110-C S. Stratford
Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or the
charity of the donor's choice
