Son of Harry Pillans and Elizabeth Henshaw (Torrey) Pillans.
Grandson of Palmer J. Pillans and Laura Roberts Pillans, Judge Rufus Campbell Torrey and Elizabeth Sargent Henshaw.
Great-grandson of Andrew Henshaw and Elizabeth Isbell Henshaw.
Great-great-grandson of Dr. Willis Roberts and Asenath (Alexander) Roberts, John Lewis Isbell and Ann Hannah (Anderson) Isbell.

Math professor. Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
He grew up at 908 Government Street, where he and his wife lived upon returning to Mobile. He later moved next door to his grandparents' home, 906 Government St., and his sister Laura lived at 908. After Laura's death, he was tricked into selling both 906 and 908 to Robert Ford Pipes Jr., who promised to restore the two houses but instead demolished them for commercial development. According to his daughter Mary Pillans Van Antwerp, "No sooner had the ink dried on the bill of sale than he began to tear them down. And his wife, Beth, one of my very best friends!" Many family items in the houses were to be returned to the family, by agreement, and others of historic significance to be donated to the city museum. Geronimo's cape had been acquired by Harry Pillans and hung on the wall in the front parlor at 908, was donated to the museum where it is displayed today as being a gift from R.F. Pipes when in reality it was a gift from the Pillans family.
