Richard Benton Moore was born 23 April 1888 in Dayton, Sebastian, Arkansas. He was 4th of the ten children born to Climit (Clement)Wesley Moore and Luiza (Louisa) Jane Doshier Moore. Siblings: William Newton [Newt] Moore (1879-1954), Emily Belle [Moore] Swafford (1883-1958), Levi Moore (1884-1982), Nellie Jane [Moore] Phillips (1891-1972), Marvin Wesley Moore (1894-1980), Rose L. [Moore] Witcher (1896-1984), Bertha [Moore] Camp (1898-1980), John McKinley Moore (1900-1973) and Jessie Webster Moore (1902-1988). He married Dora Etta Moore on 10 December 1911 in Barber, Logan, Arkansas. They are the parents of 9 children: Allen Wesley Moore (1912-1996), William Loyd Moore(1914-1988), Oda Leo Moore (1916-1980), Ruby Edith [Moore] Ferguson (1919-2009), Zetta Mae [Moore] Holland(1921-1947), Worley Benton Moore (1924-1997), Dora Alta [Moore] Montgomery(1928-2020), Charles Clinton Moore (1932-2021) and Betty Dean [Moore] Gipson (1934-2001). Ben worked on the railroad for a time after they were married but most of his life he earned a living as a farmer and he and Etta lived and worked all of their married life in the Barber area. In the spring of 1943 there was lot of rain and the area that Ben farmed was flooded so that summer Richard went back to work for the railroad. Ben was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He passed away on 7 October 1973. He and his wife Etta donated part of their farm for the Pine Log Cemetery in which they are buried.
