Martha Emeline Kelley was born on October 30, 1832, in Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee, to Lavina "Polly" Whittenberg, age 19, and Jesse Hunter Kelley, age 27. By 1840 her family had moved to Greene County, Missouri.
Martha Emeline Kelley married Samuel Andrew Jackson Mallicoat on February 21, 1850, when she was 17 years old.
Martha and Andrew (SAJ) raised their nine children in Greene County, Missouri. But by 1900 the couple had moved to Jackson Township, Polk, Missouri. And in that same year, in November, her husband died. She then moved in with her children in Greene and also Polk counties in Missouri until her death in 1919.
