Text of a letter from Burton Tibbetts, in Boston, to his wife Cora, at home in West Jonesport, Maine. Burt was a stonemason, working on public buildings in Boston, including the Public Library at Copley Square. Burt's sad wish that the Thanksgiving of 1906 be his last away from his family was to go tragically unfulfilled. He died the following year.

My Darling,

I will write you a line today. It is getting bad weather, but I worked this forenoon. Have got three days and a half so far this week and I guess that will be all. I would like to come home but guess I will try and stay a couple of weeks more and see if I can get a few more dollars.

I hope you got the box - it was not much but it will please the children. I would of sent a turkey but they were too high, 35 cents a pound. I have not bought me a thing since I came away but I think I will have to get me a pair of rubbers. My feet are cold these mornings.

If it holds cold I am likely to be home any time but then if I can get my board and a little more I had better stay. What do you think? There will be better weeks than this.

I wish I was with you tonight. It has been quite a number of years since I was away Thanksgiving and I hope it will be the last.

With all my love to you and the babies,

Burt
