Valentine Harvey Linnemann, one of 9 children born to Andrew B. Linnemann and Anna Marie Petersen Linnemann, was born on February 14, 1903, on a farm near Trenton, Nebraska, and passed away November 26, 1985, in the Brodstone Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior at the age of 82 years 9 months and 12 days.
He was educated and grew up in the Trenton, Nebraska area.
On January 9, 1926, he married Edna A. Spohnheimer in Mankato Kansas. This marriage was blessed with four children.
Val was a lifetime farmer in Nuckolls County in the Abdal area. He enjoyed his farming and his cattle. Val and Edna also traveled throughout the U.S. He spent many hours with his hobby of woodworking. He was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed them coming to visit on the farm.
He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 daughters, Janet Lee and Bonnie Jean; 5 brothers, Elmer, Soren, Clarence, Andrew and Harold; 2 sisters, Etta Linnemann and Eva Clark.
Val is survived by his wife Edna; 2 daughters, Wilma Smith and her husband Richard of Wichita, Kansas, and Betty McKevitt and husband Robert of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 1 sister, Ann Hall of Grand Island, Nebraska.
Val will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 30, 1985, at 2:00 p.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church with the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pastor John Plowman officiated. Ilene Nielsen, soloist, sang "How Great Thou Art" with Lillian Christensen as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Scott McCormick, Mike Smith, Scott McKevitt, Rick McKevitt, Tim McKevitt and Kevin Wulf. Burial was at the Springcreek (sic) Cemetery, Ruskin, Nebraska.
