Velma Lee Griffin Adams Tartt was born April 7, 1927, to Velma Griffin and Rilda Grant Griffin in Kemper County, MS.
During her youth, she joined Mt. Zion Moscow Baptist Church in DeKalb, MS, where she served on the Usher Board.
First, she married Otha Lee Adams and they had three children, two daughters and one son.
Secondly, she married Laverne Tartt, the son of James "Bonie" Tartt and Mary E. Tartt, and they had no children, but she was the step mother of one step child, a step son.
She died March 22, 1995, at the age of 67.

Griffin, Thelma Griffin, John Griffin, and Epherim "Ef" Griffin; the Paternal Granddaughter of Luke Griffin and Nancy Jane "Horn" Rush Griffin; and the Maternal Granddaughter of Moses Grant and Margaret Mary Etta Clark Grant.
