She came with her parents when young to Illinois where she resided till her death, spending nearly all her life in Clark county. She was united in marriage to John H. Ennis, Feb. 2, 1854, who departed this life March 19, 1874.
To this union were born five children, two of whom, George and Rachel preceded her in death several years ago. The three left to mourn her departure are Mrs. Dan Snyder of Martinsville, with whom she made her home for a number of years. John W. Ennis, also of Martinsville and James H. Ennis of Terre Haute. She also took into her home and raised Amanda E. Hurst who is still living at Chrisman, IL.
She was married to William E. Ennis about the year 1875, who departed this life Nov. 29, 1899.
She was converted when quite young and united with the Methodist church, and afterwards transferred to the Bethel Baptist church, where she remained a faithful member for years until she moved to Martinsville some years ago and placed her membership with the Martinsville Baptist church, where she remained a faithful member till death. She selected the chapter she desired read at her funeral, made all arrangements and those concerned have tried to carry out her wishes.
She often said she was ready to go and be with her dear Savior. All who knew her could not help but love her and see the light of her Savior shining in her life and miles. All was done for her that loving hands could do, but Jesus called and took her to that heavenly Home.
She leaves to mourn her departure, besides the three children and the one she raised, ten living grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren, and one great-great grand child, besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
