Jeannine Rae "Neen" Telleen, age 79, of Waverly, died Saturday, November 21, 2009, at her home from complications of cancer.

Jeannine was born on February 12, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Foster and Lois (Hammon) Sarchett of Indianola, Iowa. She graduated from the Martensdale High School in 1947 and later attended Simpson College, the University of Colorado, and Iowa State University, graduating in 1951.

On August 14, 1954, she was united in marriage to Maurice Telleen, the love of her life, at the United Methodist Church in Indianola, Iowa. During her life she worked as a math teacher at the Fort Dodge Junior High School and as a Publisher of The Draft Horse Journal magazine. Jeannine was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly and the Percheron, Belgian, Clydesdale, and Shire Horse Associations of the United States.

Her enjoyments were reading, bird watching, flower gardening, traveling, cooking and baking, where her specialty was scotch-a-roos, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. In her youth Jeannine was the Warren County Spelling Bee Champion and was known as the Queen of proofreading at The Draft Horse Journal.

Jeannine's memory is honored by her husband, Maurice Telleen of Waverly, their four children; Melany (Dan DaValle) Telleen of Glenview, Illinois; Jeffrey (Janet) Telleen of Russell, Iowa; Camille (Jay Franzen) Telleen of Indianola, Iowa; and Lynn (Lynette) Telleen of Waverly, Iowa; seven grandchildren; August, Henry, and Natasha Franzen, Hunter Telleen and Brad, Jay, and Troy Jensen and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Natasha Gayle Telleen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly with Pastor Nancy Schultz officiating. Lunch will follow the service at the church and then burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly where the family will greet friends from 5 to 8 P.M.
