MAESER (Special)--Funeral services for Julia Emma Searle Schanno, 78, were held in the Maeser Ward Chapel Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Lester Bingham conducting. The invocation was offered by Mark M. Hall and the benediction by Frank Abplanalp. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Caldwell, Mrs. Melvin Jorgensen and Leslie P. Thacker and Owen Hacking sang, "Oh My Father" and "Shall We Meet Beyond the River." Mrs. Gerald Caldwell and Mrs. Melvin Jorgensen sang a duet "Whispering Hope." A vocal solo "Going Home" was sung by Harvey Knight. All musical numbers were accompanied by Lucille Johnson.
Speakers were R. L. Woodward, brother-in-law of the deceased and Ed Bodily. Interment was made in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery with Thomas E. Hall dedicating the grave. Pallbearers were Claude Walter and Jay Bowden, grandsons, Wilson Stoner and Mervin Searle, grandsons-in-law and Jay Searle, nephew. Mrs. Schanno died Tuesday March 26th at San Bernardino California hospital. She was a daughter of Adelbert B. and Mary Jane Cloward Searle. Mrs. Schanno was born on February 4, 1874 in Payson. As a girl she moved with her parents to Ashley Valley where she lived most of her life. She was an active worker in the Relief Society. Her husband Charles Schanno preceded her in death.
Surviving are eight sons and daughters, Mrs. Mary Agnes Bowden, Delbert, Elmo Schanno of Vernal; Clarence H. Schanno of Oregon; Robert L. and Alfred W. Schanno of Crowheart, Wyoming; Mrs. Iola East, Los Angeles, California; 22 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. All of her children were present at the funeral except Clarence H. Schanno of Eugene, Oregon who was unable to come.
Sisters and brothers of the deceased that are surviving are Mrs. George Caldwell of Salt Lake; Mrs. Jess Taylor of Ogden; Leo Searle of Vernal. William Searle of Whiterocks; Frank Searle of Ogden; Mrs. Frank Timothy of Murray and Lewis Searle of Vernal.
Those from outside points for the funeral were R. L. Woodward of Sugarhouse; Mrs. Maud Jensen of San Bernardino; Arthur Schanno of Belgardens, California; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Taylor of Ogden; Robert Leo and Alfred W. Schanno of Crowheart. Wyoming; Mr. and Mrs. L. W. East of Los Angeles and Mr. and Mrs. Wilsen Stoner.
