Deceased Name: Charles Randall Aldridge [Corriganville]

CORRIGANVILLE — Charles Randall Aldridge, 59, of Corriganville, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at the VA Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Born on Oct. 3, 1949 in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Marcella (Logsdon) Aldridge. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anna Mae (Bridges) Logsdon and Marshall Logsdon, who helped to raise him.

Surviving are his loving wife, Susan (Burkett) Aldridge; one son, Randy Aldridge and wife Leslie, Cash Valley; and two daughters, Regina Aldridge, Australia and and Kim Aldridge and fiancé John Albright, Mt. Savage. "Charlie" adored his five grandchildren, Ryan Aldridge, Ella Sue and Zach Straker, Bailey Ann and Tallon Albright. Also, surviving are his two sisters, Marsha (Aldridge) Phillips and husband Barry and Pam Aldridge. He had one brother, John Aldridge plus numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Charlie graduated from Mount Savage High School in 1967. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart medal. He retired from the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory where he worked as an x-range operator and later as a millwright.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Barrelville Outdoor Club, Vietnam Veterans and Piney Mountain Sportsman's Club.

Charlie enjoyed hunting, shooting, playing cards and especially attending his grandson Ryan's baseball games. His love for his wife, children and grandchildren was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Bernadette Ross at the funeral home on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Denny Martin Jr., Bill Burkett Jr., Jason Burkett, John Boor, Teddy Abuceivcz and Greg Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Boor, Timmy Burkett, Bruce Burkett and Mike Phillips.

Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens followed by a late lunch at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Corriganville.

Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans and the Mount Savage VFW.
