Mildred Hardin, 90, of Murchison passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, with her family at her side.

She was born Nov. 5, 1919, in Murchison to the late George Carlton and Nena Francis McClain Hamill.

She attended Brownsboro High School and graduated in 1937, the first year Brownsboro had a graduating class. After graduation, Mildred and her sister Florence Hamill Murry moved to Dallas where they worked for the defense department during World War II.

Mildred married James Weldon (Turk) Hardin in June, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1990. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Abner and Buster Hamill; sister, Florence Murry; grandchildren, Shanda Hardin and Kristi Leigh Parker.

Mildred was a full time homemaker, devoted mother of three sons, James Hardin and wife Terry; Danny Hardin and wife Barbara; Jeff Hardin and wife Kelli; one daughter Annette Parker and husband Mickey. Loving grandmother of 11, great grandmother of 16 and great-great grandmother of 1.

In early years she enjoyed sewing, gardening, Bible study and cooking for her family. She also taught a ladies Sunday school class for many years at First Baptist Church in Murchison.

Services to celebrate her life were held on Sunday at First Baptist Church of Murchison at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Lee Welch and Rev. Cliff Cooper officiating. Burial followed at Allen Cemetery in Murchison.


Pallbearers will be her grandsons Timothy Hardin, Matthew Hardin, Jonathan Hardin, Samuel Hardin, Derek Hardin and Caleb Hardin. Honorary pallbearers are brother-in-law, Joe B. Murry and loving friend, Oleta Dodson.
