Dennis R. Breitzka, 70, Trail Creek, passed away at 6:40 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 28, 2009) at St. Anthony Memorial.
The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, with the Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Root Funeral Home. A wake service is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dennis was born March 24, 1939, in Michigan City to the late Kenneth H. and Evelyn (Bruemmer) Breitzka.
On May 4, 1963, in Michigan City, he married Joyce Wozniak, who survives in Trail Creek.
Also surviving are two daughters, Chris (Terry) Sydow and Cathy (Tom) Gonder, both of Michigan City; two sons, Scott, Trail Creek, and Michael (Kelly), La Porte; five grandchildren, Lance Cpl. Brandon Sydow, Tiffany Sydow, E-3 Nicholas Breitzka, Taryn Breitzka and Hailey Gonder; two sisters, Mary (Terry) Kosowski, Warsaw, Ind., and Lynda (Scott) Milnes, Orland Park, Ill.; and one brother, David (Pat) Breitzka, Michigan City.
Dennis worked at Sullair with two years of service, Joy Manufacturing with 28 years of service and retired from Greenwood Cemetery after 12 years of service. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Fraternal Order of Police and enjoyed bowling and spending time with his grandchildren. Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Army and of the Army Reserve Unit in Kingsbury. Full military rites will be observed at the cemetery.
