Iola M. Krepfle, 88, of 2700 Matthew John Drive, Apt. 220, formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., died at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, peacefully at home of natural causes surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call after 11 a.m. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

She was born on June 25, 1921, in Osterdock, Iowa, daughter of Fred and Cora Dell (Hyde) Hansel. She was a graduate of Elkport High School in Elkport, Iowa.

She married Richard L. Krepfle on Nov. 24, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. In 1981, she and Richard moved to the home they built in Bella Vista. They returned to the Dubuque area in 1999.

Iola was a nurses aide at Xavier Hospital for several years until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church.

In her spare time, Iola enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales, camping, fishing, traveling, playing golf and crocheting. Her greatest joy was to spend time with her family.

Surviving are her husband, Richard L. Krepfle, of Dubuque; a son, Roger A. (Phyllis) Krepfle, of Dubuque; a daughter, Sandra K. (Thomas) Finn, of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Mark (Sally) Krepfle, Carolyn Krepfle and Kelli (Tom) McArdle, all of Dubuque, Shaun (Lesley) Finn, of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Michele (Douglas) West, Iowa City; eight great-grandchildren, Amanda Donath, Melissa and Michelle Krepfle, Jackson, Benjamin and William Finn, Taylor and Austin West; two sisters, Carmen (Del) Palmer, of Concord, N.H., and Jean (John) Maehl, of Elkader, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Betty Hansel, of Guttenberg, Iowa, and Babe Hansel, of Elkader; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Harris; and three brothers Donald, Paul and Charles Hansel.
