Wayne County Outlook
20 Apr 1939

Nicholas Albertson was born June 26, 1850, departed this life April 6, 1939, being 88 years, 10 months and 21 days of age.

He was married to Elizabeth Adams in the year 1867, to this union nine children were born, six of whom survive. His companion and three children preceded him in death.

He professed faith in Christ, and joined the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and was baptized the third Saturday in January 1870, and was ordained to the work of the ministry, September 18, 1886, and the third Saturday in January 1912, he was elected moderator of the church of Pleasant Hill, and served in that capacity for a number of years, then he was elected moderator for life and served in that capacity until death.

He had preached in most of the churches of Wayne and adjoining counties, and was one of the great Bible students of his day. He had witnessed many conversions and had helped ordain a number of the preachers of Wayne County.

He had been a great Sunday School man, even though he had not been able to attend Sunday School and church for several years, his highest ambition was to be able enough to preach one more sermon at Pleasant Hill.

He often spoke of the welfare of the churches and was always anxious to hear how the churches were getting along, and how it pleased him to know the churches were prospering.

He is survived by six children and some grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives.

We know now that another soldier of the cross has received another discharge and has gone home, to his companion and children.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Isaac Hucaby, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery to await the resurrection.
