OBITUARY OF MRS. J. D. GROGAN

Mrs. J. D. GROGAN died at the home of her son, Ed GROGAN, at Abilene, Texas, on December 15, 1925 and her body was brought here for burial beside the remains of her husband in the Ochiltree cemetery. Mrs. GROGAN was a pioneer settler in this county coming here with her husband and family in 1902 and settling on the Grogan place north of town.

The deceased whose maiden name was Callie GOBER, was born in Georgia on October 14, 1845 and at the time of death had reached the ripe age of over eighty years. She was married about sixty-two years ago to J. G. GROGAN, who preceded her in death in 1913. They were married in Fannin county, Texas, later living in Shackleford and other counties in Texas before moving to this county. Three children were born to this union died when small two girls and one boy. The surviving children are Mrs. H. C. COFFEE of this city, Mrs. T. F. MURRAY of Ludens, Texas, Mrs. Earl SCOTT of Abilene, Texas, Ed GROGAN of Abilene, Texas, P. A. GROGAN of Beaver Head, New Mexico and D. I. GROGAN of Sweetwater, Texas.

Mrs. GROGAN suffered a stroke of paralysis about ten weeks ago and has been confined to her bed since that time. All that medical skill and loving care could do was done for her but it was in vain. The remains were brought to Canadian where they were taken in charge by Mortician G. R. Wilson. The funeral services were held at the Wilson Funeral Home at 2:30 on Thursday afternoon, Rev. E. G. Pennington having charge of the Services. Mrs. GROGAN was a devout Christian and had had been a member of the Christian Church for years. The body was laid to rest in the family burial ground in the Ochiltree Cemetery.

The sympathy of the community goes forth to the loved ones who were left behind.
