Johann KLOCKE, later known as John Anton CLOCK. John was born in Metz, Germany (now France). Came to America approx. 1825 with a friend, Simon Strunk who lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. He became a bricklayer in Cincinnati. Then he went back to Germany and married Mary Ann Hanover, and returned to the U.S. Johann KLOCKE 32 & Anna A KLOCKE 21, both from Lippe, he was a farmer, sailed from Bremen on the ship Columbia, arriving 25 July 1838 at the Port of Baltimore. Destination was Cincinnati, OH.
He purchased a homestead in Lafayette Township near Alexandria, Madison Co., IN. They moved there in approx. 1840. He was killed on the White River Bridge north of Anderson, Madison, IN.
He married Mary Ann "Hannah" Hanover about 1837 in Germany.
Children: Frederick John, Amelia m. Thomas Herrin, Lucy m. John Lemuel Hillis, Louisa m. Mr. Helligoss, Samuel, William, Mary Elizabeth m. James Franklin Herrin, Martha died age 4, Joseph Leslie, Sarah m. Mr. Kendel, Josephine died age 5, Henry Orthan died age 22 in train wreck, and Charles b. 1864.
