Thelma Irene Ballanger, age 89, of Moulton, Iowa, died Thursday, December 21, 2006 at her home near Moulton. She was born the daughter of James and May (Chlumsky) Benge on January 2, 1917 near Meade, Kansas. She received her education in Rual country school near Sharon Bluffs east of Centerville, Iowa.

On February 1, 1941, Thelma was united in marriage to Titus Aquilla Ballanger in Centerville, Iowa. She was a home maker and a member of the Walnut City Christian Church as well as attended the Zoar Church southeast of Exline, Iowa.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Titus Ballanger on May 12, 1997; son, Basil Boyd Ballanger in 1941; grandson, David Ballanger; sisters, Juanita Benge and Verna Alvin; brothers, Hubert, Howard and Lowrence Benge.

Thelma is survived by: her sons, Colin Ballanger and his wife, Janie of Coatsville, Missouri, Kevin Ballanger of Moulton, Iowa and Erwin Ballanger and Scarlett Sallady of Cincinnati, Iowa; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Robert Pick officiating. Burial will follow in the Zoar Cemetery southeast of Exline, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 1 till 8 pm with family present from 6 till 8 pm. Memorials can be made to the family.
