Marcus was a son of Joseph L. Mattingly and Laura Isabel Henning. He and Mary Ella reportedly had three children: Joseph Paul, Anna Lee, and Mabel. The child Mabel, never appears with this family. Possibly died young or never existed. His son Joseph, died on July 26, 1965 in Los Angeles County, California. His place of burial is not currently known.
