His wife Lucille Mattingly, died November 23, 1990. A son, Donnie Mattingly, also preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Ralph Mattingly of Orlando, FL; 2 daughters, Gina Hall of Hardinsburg and Wanda Huser of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Corinne Carrico of Louisville. Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Romuald Catholic Church in Hardinsburg. Burial in St. Romuald Cemetery.
