Graduated from WA State College 1 Jun 1952, and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. Lorus and his family lived in many places during his career, among which were: Fort Monmouth, NJ; Eritrea, Africa; Fort Meade, MD; Fort Huachuca, AZ; Paris, France; Tobyh anna Army Depot, PA; Fort Gordon, GA; Erzurum, Turkey; Bangkok, Thailand; Fort Campbell, KY; Dahnang, Vietnam; and as Senior Advisor to the Delaware National Guard, in Dover, Delaware.
Retired from the Armed Services June 1974 as a Lieutenant Colonel. His distinguished service was honored by many awards and decorations, including: the Legion of Merit Medal; Bronze Star; Meritorious Service Medal; three awards of the Army Commendation Medal; two awards of the National Defense Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm; and the Delaware Conspicuous Service Medal.
Following his retirement from duty, Lorus and his family came back to Washington State, and located in Spokane. He was employed as Clerk of the Works for Bouten Construction Contractor until the time of his death. He was a member of the English Congregational Church, Odessa. Survived by his wife, 1 daughter, 1 son, 2 grandchildren, his parents, and many friends and relatives. Two infant sons preceded him in death. ref: Odessa Record 14 Jan 1982
