Mrs. Nellie Adaline Bard
Mrs. Nellie Adaline Bard of Newton Hamilton, wife of Herman Bard, died in the Lewistown Hospital at 6;10 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 1947, after an extended illness. She was born in Wayne Township on April 16, 1892, the daughter of William and Annie (Dull) Lane. She was married to Herman Bard on Nov. 24, 1915. Surviving are: her husband; two children, Herman F. Bard and Anna Louise Creig, both of Newton Hamilton; five brothers and a sister, Charles H. and Cloyd R. Lane, both of Newton Hamilton, Edgar Lane of Wilmington, Ill., Walter Lane and Mrs. Ralph Wakefield, both of Shirleysburg, and William Lane of Palmyra; two grandchildren; and a nephew who was reared in the Bard home, Thomas E. Bard of the U.S. Army, now stationed in Arizona. The Bards made their first home in Shirley Township where Mr. Bard followed the occupation of farming. Mrs. Bard was a member of the First Methodist Church of Mount Union and the Ladies Aid of the church. She belonged to the Daughters of America Lodge in Mount Union. The funeral service will be held in the Newton Hamilton Methodist Church on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. John Hoover of the Newton Hamilton church and the Rev. Frank Crawford of the Allenport Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery, Newton Hamilton. Friends may call at the Clark funeral home, Mount Union, after 7 p.m. Friday and at the church after 11 a.m. Sunday.
