Dr. William Van Pelt Batson, son of Dr. John D. Batson and Annie B. Van Pelt, born in Louisville, Kentucky 14th day of December 1875.
He studied at Memphis Hospital Medical College, while later at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, where he pursued a specialty in surgery.

W. V. Batson (25) married Miss Edna May Steele (20) on the 24th day of February 1900 in Sharp county, Kentucky. They were blessed with two sons, John Steele Batson (1902) and William Theodore Batson (1907).

The family moved in 1901 to Indian Territory where he started his practice in Holder, in what now is known as Love county; being one of the pioneer physician and surgeon of that section of the state.
Later he joined his father, Dr. John Batson, they practice medicine together from 1903 to 1913. In that year Dr John D. Batson went to Oklahoma City where he open and office for the treatment of eye, ear, nose and throat specializing in that field until his death (1922).
About 1904 they moved to Marietta, where he was active in practice until he retired in 1938.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon for many years. His religious faith has been his guiding spirit of his life.

Dr. W.V. Batson gained a highly reputation as a physician and caring for his patients' welfare.
If he found a family without food, he would see that they were blessed with food. It was said he never sent out a bill in his life and never pressed his patients with bill for payment.

Note: Parents, Annie B. Van Pelt and John D Batson were married 17 Dec 1873 Kentucky, Fayette county... 1880 Census with Annie's parents W. E. and Ann Van Pelt.
