Attached Union Cavalry Civil War photo is likely horizontally flipped because 1.) that is what tintype photos did and 2.) the buttons should be on the opposite side. A majority of people are right handed which would coincide, but that is conjecture. I have found no proof he was a veteran, but there is a GAR star at his grave as found on one of my family genealogy trips.

It was his request that Rev. H. G. Andrews preach the funeral sermon. Interment will be made in the Monroe (Morrison) cemetery. Obituary next week.
