YORK - Colonel O. Copenheaver, 82, died Friday, April 16, 2004 at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. He was the husband of Jeretha G. (Ehrhart) Copenheaver.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. The Rev. Mitchell M. Galloway, his pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc.
Born May 25, 1921 in Manheim Twp., a son of the late Colonel R.I. and Minnie M. (Trone) Copenheaver, he retired from Graham Architectural Products in 1986 and later worked at York County Nursing Home. He was a member of Fourth United Methodist Church and also attended Dover Assembly of God. He was a member of Hawks Gunning Club and AARP Ch. #1246. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Copenheaver is survived by a daughter, Dawn E. Frey of York; six grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Treva M. Hamm of Spring Grove.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert A. and Barry Copenheaver; and a brother, H. Percy Copenheaver.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fourth U.M. Church, 20 N. Lehman St., York, PA 17403; or to Alzheimer's Disease Research, 15825 Shady Grove Road, Suite 140, Rockville, MD 10850.
