Bluford Wilson Campbell (sometimes listed as Buford) was the son of Elon Campbell (born in 1814 in Meadville, Franklin County, MS and Elon's second wife Mary Strickland, who was 16 when they were married). Mary Strickland Campbell (1830-1913) is buried at Read Hill in New Boston.

He married (1) Leanor (Lena) Denton on March 28, 1886 in Independence County, AR. He was 21, she was 15. She died before 1900, apparently in Hopkins County, TX.

The 1900 census shows Bluford in Hopkins County, Texas (near Sulphur Springs) and having been born Feb 1866, and a widower, with daughter Mary (b. Feb 1888) daughter Florence (listed incorrectly as b. Aug. 1896) daughter Modina (b. March 1896) and daughter Johanna (b. Feb 1897), along with his widowed mother Mary.

He may have had a short marriage after Lena Denton, then he married (3) Alvis Emiline Hardwick ('Emma') Oct 04 1903 in Franklin County Texas. She was born Dec 30, 1880, and died Apr 20, 1918 in New Boston, Bowie Co., TX. He married (4) Texanna Lyles 05 May 1919 in Bowie County Texas (they show up on the 1920 census in New Boston). Born from the marriage of Bluford and Emma: Buford Andrew 'Andy' Campbell, who married Mary Opal Haggard, Jesse Wilson Campbell, who married Irene, and Josephine Campbell Jones, who married Guy Freeman then A. C. Jones.

Records indicate Bluford was married a few more times (including Callie Robertson for a few months, and 'Cordie' (Cordelia) to whom he was married when he died). His death certificate shows he died in New Boston, TX and was buried at Read Hill--but according to Irene Campbell (noted above) he is by Emma and by his mother, but never had a marker put on his grave. A marker is being placed on the grave by descendants in 2010. The informant on Bluford's death certificate was Mary Lambeth.
