HALLETTSVILLE - Florine Menking Brocker, 92, of Hallettsville, died Thursday, November 9, 2006.


She was born April 18, 1914, in Hallettsville, to the late Louis Carl and Hedwig Kinkler Menking.


She was a public school teacher at the Radhost, Seclusion, and Williamsburg schools in Lavaca County, graduated from Southwest Texas Teacher College in San Marcos and Hallettsville High School, member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hallettsville, and a volunteer at Stevens Convalescent Center.


Survivors: son, Maxie Paul Brocker of Hallettsville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.


Preceded in death by: husband, Maxie Kahn Brocker; sisters, Hattie Hulda Powers, Lydia Menking, Ella Hatcher, and Hulda Hoffman; infant brother; and brothers, Louis Menking, Jacob Menking, Victor Menking, Edmund "Ed" Menking, and Ernest Menking.


Visitation will begin Noon today, with family receiving friends 5-7 p.m. tonight at Kubena Funeral Home.


Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Rev. Herb Beyer officiating.


Burial will be at Old Kinkler Cemetery. Kubena Funeral Home, Hallettsville, 361-798-3271.


Pallbearers: Alvin Vasek, Justin Vasek, Jerry Migl, Leonard Walker, Wayne Stewart, Robert Hass.
