Ens. William Webster, son of Lieut. Robert Webster, Sr. and Susannah Treat, b. at Hartford, Conn. July 2, 1671 and d. at Hartford circa June 1722, Æ 51.

William was the gr.son of Gov. John Webster of the Connecticut Colony and Agnes Smith, and gr.son of Richard Treat, Esq. and Alice Gaylord of Wethersfield, Conn. William was also the maternal nephew of Maj. Robert Treat, the principal founder of Newark, New Jersey in 1666 who later was the Gov. of the Connecticut Colony in 1680 when Andros usurped the individual governments of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Plymouth and Rhode Island.

On Nov. 28, 1700 at the Hartford 1st Chh., William m. Sarah Nichols, dau. of the Hartford immigrant Capt. Cyprian Nichols and his wife Mary. She was b. at Hartford circa 1678. She m. 2) the widower Samuel Catlin on May 13, 1725 at the Hartford 1st Chh.

The children of Ens. William Webster and Sarah Nichols, all b. at Hartford, Conn., are:

• i. Cyprian Webster, b. Sept. 3, 1701 (bapt. Sept. 7, 1701, Hartford 2nd Chh.); m. Elizabeth Seymour Sept. 25, 1729. Four children of the family.

• ii. Sgt. William Webster, Jr., b. Sept. 3, 1703 (bapt. Sept. 5, 1703, Hartford 2nd Chh.); m. 1) Mary Watson June 3, 1731, and 2) Anne Case Sept. 26, 1759. Ten children, five by each wife.

• iii. Moses Webster, b. Sept. 26, 1706 (bapt. Sept. 29, 1706, Hartford 2nd Chh.); m. Mary Brace Dec. 6, 1733. Six children of the family.

• iv. and v. Twins Aaron and James Webster, bapt. Sept. 5, 1708 (Hartford 2nd Chh.); both died young.

• vi. Susanna Webster, b. Apr. 18, 1710; m. Capt. William Marsh Nov. 9, 1733. Four known children of the family.

• vii. Sarah Webster, bapt. Aug. 10, 1712 (Hartford 2nd Chh.); m. Capt. John Marsh Aug. 20, 1733 at Litchfield, Conn., brother of her sister Susanna's husband.

• viii. Samuel Webster, bapt. Nov. 28, 1714 (Hartford 2nd Chh.); m. Elizabeth Case Dec. 17, 1741 at Wintonbury Parish, now Bloomfield, Conn. Twelve children of the family.

• ix. Timothy Webster, bapt. May 29, 1720 (Hartford 1st Chh.); no futher record.
