David Brooks (1835-1864) was the son of Calvin Brooks and Maria Jervis Brooks of North Hempstead, NY. He had two sisters--Olive & Phoebie--and three brothers--Alvah, Henry & Thomas.

David served on the Union side in the Civil War in Company E, 5th Regiment, New York Artillery. He was wounded at Hall Town, VA, and died in Sandy Hook, MD, of his wounds. He is buried with his family.
