Richard Roy Bruening, the son of Richard and Mary (Martin) Bruening was born December 1, 1907 at Edmond, Kansas. He departed this life on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 98 years.

Roy had been a long time Clay County resident, farming near Ong, NE. Roy retired at the age of 62 and moved into Ong to enjoy his retirement years. On September 28, 1928 Roy was united in marriage to wife Lois at Loveland, Colorado. Failing health took Roy & Lois to Superior, NE to be closer to family. In his spare time Roy enjoyed playing cards, golfing, playing and umpiring baseball in his younger days and watching it in his later years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son, sister Mildred and brothers Bernard and Earl.

Survivors include his wife Lois of Superior, NE; son Gene Bruening & wife Carmen of Superior, NE; daughters Rosemary Stutheit of Colorado Springs, CO. and Doris Israelson of North Platte, NE; 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, NE. with Rev. Mark Diehl officiating.

Burial was held in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, NE.

Williams Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements.
