Bailey Ashby was born in Virginia in 1810. He moved to Clark county in 1828 and in '45 married Elizabeth Clough, who still survives. They raised a family of 12 children and 9 of them are still living. Mr. Ashby died of old age and general debility, on Saturday last and was buried on Sunday in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, the funeral being held in Mt. Pleasant church, Elder Smith of Paris conducting the services. Mr. Ashby was the oldest resident of this vicinity.
