Mary Jane Bowen was the daughter of Martin Bowen (1790-1854) who resided in Cayuga County, New York, and died in Stafford, Massachusetts.

Mary Jane Bowen married Artemas H. Glover in Cayuga County, New York, on 2 March 1837. They had three children:
[1] Emma L. Glover (1838-?), married Thomas Hood
[2] Romain P. Glover (1846-1919), married Anna Hudson (1842-1911)
[3] Irwin Glover (1853-?)

By 1838, they had moved to Saline, Washtenaw County, Michigan, where their children were born and raised. This is where they were found at the time of the 1850, 1860, and 1870 census. In 1870, he owned $14,800 in real estate and $4,000 in personal estate; five laborers lived on his farm.

By 1860, Emma had married Thomas Hood; their children were Albert O. and Effie May.

Romain married Anna Hudson before 1868. They resided in Saline in 1880, in Fowlerville, Livingston County, Michigan, in 1900, and in Handy, Livingston County, Michigan, in 1910. They had five children: William H., Roy, Walter Zenophan, Maud, and a child who died in infancy.

In 1880, Artemas and Mary still resided in Saline, Washtenaw County, Michigan. A niece, Della Roberts, and her daughter, Tessa, lived with them. Next door were Romain Glover, his wife Ann, and their sons William and Roy.
