MT. PLEASANT -- Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday Nov. 18, in the Mt. Pleasant LDS Stake Center. 300 South State Street for Francis Smith Johansen. age 74, who led the way to Heaven's Trails on Nov. 13, 2000, surrounded by his family.
Friends may call Friday evening at the Stake Center 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 11:30-12:30 prior to the services.
He was born May 1, 1926 in Mt. Pleasant to Francis and Dorma Smith Johansen.
He married Maridean Taylor, soon after she ruined his boxing career.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years and his children F Butch (Carol) Johansen, of Mt. Pleasant and Vickie D. (James) Kline, Payson.
He is the happy father of three, grandfather of 14, and great-grandfather of 12.
He is also survived by sisters Lucille (Don) Thornton, St George: Mrs. Gerald (Beth) Clark, Provo: Donna Peterson, Ephraim and sister in law Louise Johansen Atwood, Price.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby daughter, Valerie: baby grandson and brothers LaVon and Jerry.
Internment will be in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery with Military Honors under the direction of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Salina and Richfield.
