Going Away.--
Mr. W. H. Bollinger, who has been in business here eleven years, has rented the place of Mr. Witte, No. 522 N. Duke street, Lancaster, and will remove about the first of April. He intends to carry on a first-class fancy pie and cake bakery. We are both glad and sorry.

Glad that Mr. Bollinger is to enlarge his business under favorable auspices, and sorry to lose him. During his residence here, he has made many friends and proved himself a good business man and worthy citizen. None will miss him more than the poor, whose friend he has always been. His unostentatious benevolence and public spirit make him a benefit to any town, and we congratulate the people of Lancaster while we deplore the loss to Lititz.

"W. H. BOLLINGER DEAD -
Had a Thriving Confectionery and Bakery Here at One Time
DIED AT READING SUNDAY -
William H. Bollinger, a former confectioner and baker of this place, died at his home in West Reading on Sunday at 4:30 P.M. He had been sick in bed for the past eight months, suffering from a nervous disease and other ailments. His age was 74 years and 8 months.

The Bollinger confectionery and bakery at one time was widely and favorably known in Lititz, and did a big business. There was a big patronage among the country people as well as the town people. Mr. Bollinger also attended the Lancaster markets and there was a big demand for his bakery products. Bollinger's cakes were considered inimitable and sold at Lancaster by the wagonload.

William H. Bollinger was born in Penn township, near Elm, and was a son of the late Emanuel and Mary Bollinger. His first employment was as a clerk in the Mt. Hope store. From Mt. Hope he went to Lancaster, where he learned candy making. From Lancaster he moved to Columbia and shortly thereafter, in the year 1868, he became a resident of Lititz and opened a candy store on North Broad street near the railroad but in 1870 opened larger quarters on Main street where the Rudy building now stands. In 1880 he moved to Lancaster. After conducting business in that city for a few years he returned to Lititz and opened a confectionery and bakery on Main street now occupied by R. E. Adams. A few years later he left Lititz and opened a business in Reading, later in Pottstown. Again Mr. Bollinger returned to Lititz; was here a comparatively short time, then removed to Rothsville, where after a few years business career he removed to Reading about eight years ago and remained there until death.

His wife was Eleanor Nauman, of Lancaster, who survives him. He leaves one son, Howard, Pittsburgh, and two granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bollinger was a member of the Reading Moravian church at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held at the late home at Reading on Wednesday and the body was brought here on the noon train, with further services in the Moravian church, and burial in the congregational cemetery. Rev. A. E. Stoltz, the Moravian pastor of Reading, officiated."
