She was one of seven children including: Mary Thelma (Mrs. James Scott), Eleanor Clyde (Mrs. DeVern Allen), James Miller, William Woodrow, Robert Wellington, and Roberta Nell Buford.
On October 29, 1929, she married Clyde Austin Leslie in LaBelle, Missouri. The couple had two children: Rebecca Jane and Sam Lee.
