He retired as director of human resources at Fisk University. Mr. Richardson was a member of St. Anselm's Episcopal Church. He was a former member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge. He also was the business manager for Carver Associates in Oak Ridge, and the business manager for Knoxville College.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Abernathy Richardson, who taught at Scarboro Elementary and Linden Elementary.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Richardson; his loving son, Earl Richardson and Sheryl; his precious grandson, Kato Richardson; his brother, Joseph Richardson and Lester Mae of Chattanooga; his devoted sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Samuel and Inell Abernathy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church members and friends, including special friends, Nelson and Kathleen Stephens, Theresa Riddle and Janie Ruth Walker, all of Oak Ridge.
The graveside service and burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
A reception will follow the service at Spurgeon Chapel AME Zion Church, 100 S. Benedict Ave., in Oak Ridge.
The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at William Gunter and Sons Funeral Home in Nashville.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations in Richard's honor be made to St. Anselm's Episcopal Church Building Fund, 2008 Meharry Blvd., Nashville, TN 37208; the American Institute for Cancer Research, Dept. 802, 1759 R. Street N.W., Washington, D.C. 20009; or to a charity of your choice.
