James was the son of of Samuel and Martha Patsy McBride Dinwiddlie Shortly after he was born the family moved from Kentucky to Boone County, Missouri. He married Katherine "Kate" Moseley on May 12, 1862 in Boone County. They bought a 160 acre farm at Shaw and in 1900 Kate sold the land to my grandparents after James died.
