Henry's Father, A.H.DREYER,his wife Charlotte and August Weller & Henry Dreyer sailed on the ship "Francisco" from Bremen,Germany in 1842 arriving in Galveston, Texas. The family boarded a local boat travelling to Houston, Texas; from there they travelled by oxen pulled wagons to Colorado County, Texas. The family settled on "Skull Creek" and began a modest farm. The family moved on to Oakland where A.H.Dreyer began growing tobacco and making cigars.
At the age of 16, HENRY DREYER, joined the Rangers in Capt. Henry McCullough's Company; patrolling the land around San Antonio,Texas.

1861, Henry Dreyer joined Company C/Captain Ford's Company/13th Regiment, Texas Volunteers. This Unit was attached to the Trans-Mississippi Department, it served in Texas guarding the coast between Galveston and Matagorda.
After the CW, Henry returned to raising cattle and farming, finally residing at Wellersburg,Colorado County, Texas where he operated a steam powered mill.
