On November 14, 1996, a horrible crime took place in the small town of Raccoon Bend, Texas. The town, which only has a population of roughly 400, is between Austin and Houston, and violent crime is rare. On that date, a widower by the name of Will Stetenpohl planned on having company. His daughter, 65 year old Bernice Schiller, and her husband, Aldon, were going to stop by and help him clean his trailer. When Bernice and Aldon didn't make it home that evening, their son went to Will's house to check on them. He discovered four bodies in the bedroom of the house, and called police.

The victims were quickly identified as Will, Bernice, Aldon, and Will's 81 year old neighbor, Ray Paine, who lived in the trailer next door. All four had been shot by either a rifle or a shotgun, and seemed to have fallen upon each other when shot.
