Dr. Richard William "RW" Dunlap was born on July 4, 1817, in Lexington, Kentucky, his father, George Washington Dunlap, was 28 and his mother, Mary Downton Dunlap, was 30. His first Marriage was to Martha McLane on September 10, 1840. They had one son, William Watkins Dunlap in 1841, she died in 1842. He them married a second time to Rosanna "Rose" Fisher on November 14, 1843, they had no children and she died in 1845. He then married a third time to Elizabeth Boyd Warren on November 9, 1846, They had one daughter Elizabeth "Lizzy" Boyd Dunlap in 1848, his wife died in 1849. He then married a fourth time to Sarah "Sally" Jane Bailey in 1850. They had seven children, Carroll Bailey Dunlap in 1852, Theodore Robertson Dunlap in 1853, James Bailey Dunlap in 1854, George Lafayette Dunlap in 1855, Richard Patton Dunlap in 1861, Robert Lee Dunlap in 1863, and Mary Downton Dunlap in 1867. He died on July 28, 1885, in Danville, Kentucky, at the age of 68, and was buried there.
