Aviation Cadet L. R. McAboy, USNR, was designated Naval Aviator #5812 in 1938. Entered active service via the pre-war AVCAD program, having resigned his 2nd Lieutenant commission in the Vol. USMCR. Would remain an active duty Reservist until retiring in 1960 with the rank of Captain.
