WALHALLA - Helen Sarah Adams Deaton Schaffer Brock, 82, of 375 Shadbury Creek Road, died Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at Oconee Memorial Hospital. A native of Oconee County, she was a retired employee of Walhalla Garment Company. She attended Cherry Hill Church of God where she was a member of the Class #3 Sunday School Class.
She was three times married, to the late Charles Quinton Deaton, Marvin Schaffer and B. D. Brock. She was the daughter of the late Elbert James and Mamie Martha Watt Adams. Surviving are a son, Alton "Bill" Deaton of Cummings, Ga.; daughters, Mildred Burrell of Salem, Vangie Crowe of Mountain Rest and Esther Jackson of Seneca; stepsons, Allen Brock and Joe Deaton, both of Westminster, and Ernest Deaton of Anderson; stepdaughters, Evelyn Lee and Diane Turner, both of Westminster, Nellie Thomas and Beulah Hamrick, both of Houston, Ga.; brothers, Melvin Adams of Westminster and Charles Adams of Toccoa, Ga.; 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her Husbands and parents, she was predeceased by brothers, James, Ray and Marion Adams, and a sister, Margaret Adams. Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cherry Hill Church of God, with burial in Fair Play Presbyterian Cemetery. Davenport Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
