William Klinger and his wife Mathilda came to Godfrey township from the state of Pennsylvania and homesteaded in section 11 north of Maple Bay. Their farmhouse was extremely large.
Their children were Ed, Howard, Harry, Al, Bill, Frank, Jesse and Alice. They lost 4 children to tuberculosis in a period of six months. They built a small house out in the yard out of glass and screen so their children could live in the sunshine and fresh air in hopes of getting well.
