Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Craft, 88, who died at her home at 404 North Main Street at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, are planned at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kemp Methodist church. Rev. e.E. Lawshe, pastor of the church, will be in charge of rites and interment will be in the mausoleum in Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. Craft, who has been ill for the past three years, was born near Arcadia, March 2, 1860, to Alex and Madeline (Lambert) Burgess. On May 26, 1883, she was married to Frank Lebo and came to Tipton. They were the parents of two children, Ruth and Mildred Pauline. Mr. Lebo died in 1887 and Mildred died in 1930. Mr. and Mrs. Lebo purchased several lots at the northwest corner of North and Main streets and here they erected the house in which Mrs. Craft lived all but five years of her married life. In 1907, Mrs. Lebo married C.V.L. Craft, who died in 1937. She was a member of the Kemp Methodist church for more than 64 years and when actve, sang in the choir and participated in women's societies in the church. For more than 30 years, she taught the Craft Women's Bible class.

Mrs. Craft took a vital interest in community affairs and was an active worker in the program to etect a hospital in the county when the election on the project failed several years ago; She was tehe first person to sign the petition for the election March 12, 1946, which resulted in an overwhelming vote in favor of the project. Mrs. Craft had a life interest in the George and Innie Bowers estate, to which she was an heir, and left it as a legacy to Tipton county for erection of the hospital. The estate is valued between $40,000 amd $50,000 and will go into the hospital building fund.

Survivors are the daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Smith; three grandchildren, Mrs. Herschel Davis of Gary, Mrs. Eugene Hellsworth of Fort Wayne and Robert Smith of Detroit, Mich.; six grandchildren and several cousins.
