Fred Van Wie died in Pittsfield, Mass., Tuesday. He was born in Quaker Springs on Nov. 2, 1877. Mr. Van Wie was a carpenter and was superintendent of Buildings for the City of Pittsfield until his recent retirement. He is survived by two brothers, Dow J. Van Wie and Charles L. Van Wie Sr. and several nieces and nephews, all of Saratoga Springs. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Pittsfield. The remains will be cremated. Burial will be in the Quaker Springs Cemetery in about two weeks, with services by the Order of IOOF.
