Dorothy M. Bell, 92, of Springfield, formerly of Chicago, died Monday, Jun. 26, 2006, at St. John's Hospice.

She was born Sep. 1, 1913, in Chicago, the daughter of John J. and Jennie Gudgeon Dassie. She married John W. Schmidt; they later divorced. She married Henry Bell Jr. in 1964; he died in 1988.

Mrs. Bell retired from High-Low Grocery Store in Chicago in 1972. She was a charter member of Lipinski-Callahan-Daly Chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation and member of VFW Post 10093 Ladies Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans Dunedin Auxiliary Chapter 103. She was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors: daughter, Dorothy (husband, Bud) Watters of Springfield; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Louis F. Dassie of Rio Rancho, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. Friday from Bisch and Son Funeral Home, to graveside services at 1 p.m. in Camp Butler National Cemetery, the Rev. Peter Harmon officiating.
