WM. MACK, SR., DEAD.
-----
He Died of Consumption--Was a Brave Follower of Forrest in the Confederacy.

Special to The Observer.

Fort Mill, S. C., July 14.--William Mack, Sr., died at the residence here of his brother, Rev. J. B. Mack, D. D., Wednesday night at 10 o'clock. He was buried here yesterday, his pall-bearers being veterans, Masons and deacons, as he was a veteran, a Knight Templar and deacon in the church.

Mr. Mack was 54 years old and lived the greater part of his life in Missouri. He had consumption and went to Florida for his health some years ago. His brother, Dr. Mack, brought him here several weeks ago, hoping the change would benefit him.

Mr. Mack was a trooper in Forrest's cavalry before he was 18 years old. He was a gallant soldier and faced death in about 40 fights, although he was never wounded.
