H. C. Green was born July 27, 1898, at Pendleton, Texas. His parents were J. J. Green and Belle Elisbeth Wilkinson. When Brother Green was seven years of age, his parents moved to Chattanooga, Tenn. He grew to manhood in that city. He was baptized by W. P. Kidwell, in 1910, at the Cowart Street Church house. The Cowart Street Church is the parent church of Hamilton County, in which Chattanooga is located. His grandparents were members of the body of Christ, and his father was an elder in the Cowart Street Church for many years. His great-grandfather on his father's side was a Primitive Baptist preacher. He was excluded from the Baptist Church for preaching h eresy . There is inscribed on his tombstone in the family burying ground in Warren County, Tenn., the following: "Why the old Baptists call for my credentials because I preached the hope of the resurrection?" Brother Green received his education in the public schools of Chattanooga. After he began preaching in 1928, he attended a number of special lecture courses at Freed‐Hardeman College and David Lipscomb College. He took a course in Bible by correspondence under H. Leo Boles. Most of his work has been done in Tennessee, Alabama, and Michigan. He is now located with the Highland Park Church, Montgomery, Ala. He is an earnest, consecrated gospel preacher. -- H.
