Democratic Chairman Davis Dies

Henry M. Davis, prominent farmer of Agency and chairman of the Democratic county committee, died this morning at a hospital in St. Joseph. He was 67.

Mr. Davis was taken to the hospital Saturday after a heart attack at his home. Sunday he also suffered a stroke.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Beulah Davis, a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Lue Grable, and two grandchildren, Jane Ann and Wayne Allen Grable, all of the home; a sister, Mrs. Josephine Reece, Agency, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Davis was elected chairman of the Democratic county committee last August. He directed the party's successful fall campaign here.

He had been an Agency township member of the committee for many years and had served several terms as vice-chairman of the committee.

Henry Monroe Davis was a lifelong resident of the Agency community as had been his parents. Bart and Susan Davis. His farm was a quarter of a mile north of Agency.

Mr. Davis was a member of the Agency Methodist Church and the I.O.O.F. Lodge. For a number of years, he had been treasurer of the Buchanan-Platte Counties Fox Hunters Association.

Davis Services

Final rites for Henry M. Davis will be at the Methodist Church at Agency tomorrow afternoon at 2 with burial in the Agency cemetery. The Rev. Larry W. Sonner will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Gary Phillips.

The body will be taken to the church an hour before the service from the Heaton-Bowman funeral home. Mr. Davis, chairman of the Democratic county committee, and lifelong Agency resident, died yesterday morning at the age of 67.

Six nephews will serve as pall-bearers, Franklin Whitson, Ralph Whitson, Fred Moser, Lynval Ball, Howard Reece and Francis Lee Byrne.
